I read the news and it does mention them as Romanian citizens. However, mentioning the ethnicity instead of the citizenship is considered xenophobic by the media hence why they probably don't do it. According to the news there are two hundred Romanian citizens in Pedrera, I don't know if they are all gypsies but the ones on the images that were posted look like it.

My initial point is in Spain there is a significant Gypsy population. It's significant enough that one can expect the media to avoid upsetting their community by making any connection between them and these other Gypsies (which there would be just by the use of the word Gypsy; even saying Romanian Gypsy may be an issue because of the word Gypsy would cause people to also think of local Gypsies). There aren't a significant number of ethnic Romanians for there to be an uproar and so it would make sense for them to do it that way.

I'm not saying it's right. I'm saying it may be done to avoid trouble.

CV being a typical jack ass. They're obviously Romanian Gypsies from the pic. I think the Spanish media simply says Romanian to avoid upsetting local Spanish Gypsies.

Not too long ago there was an article about "Romanian" immigrants here in the U.S. defecating in the streets and it turned out to be Romanian Gypsies.
