Which Latin American rivalries or tensions are common where you live?

Honestly, it mostly comes from the media stereotypes of Haitians being backwards people that live in 3rd world squalor and practice voodoo. Plus, there's been some immigration issues involving Haitians in various Caribbean countries.

It's kind of similar to how many Colombians view El Choco Colombians or how many Argentinians view Bolivians.

Haitians in the U.S. tend to be very level headed people from my experience though. 2nd generation Haitian Americans are some of the most educated people in the U.S. White Cubans in Miami tend to hate them big time as well.

I feel bad for Haitians, they are good people who have saved their african influences to the max, they were the first to free themselves from slavery and slaughter all the whites who were oppressing them

I don't look down on Central Americans or South Americans. Some are outside their own nations due to problems we're facing too.

I have a slight dislike/spite for some middle class venezuelan/cuban refugees in my country though. Every time there's general elections they release a bunch of crying videos, giving us sob-stories about how their nation went from being more developed than Japan to below Moldova levels because "muh socialism", and how we should support whatever pro-Americanist, neo-liberalist, technocratic puppet candidate so "Mexico doesn't end like Venezuela".

I do not fault them entirely though, because after all this is machined by whatever retard governs the country and controls the propaganda. But that they accept playing these kind of games, pretending as if they have a say in our future or our problems is a bit annoying.

Really? I heard Central Americans, Colombians and Venezuelans get treated like crap by Cubans in Miami, that is what I heard from some Nicaraguan who lives in Miami. I have never heard of this Cuban vs Mexican beef ever, the Cubans I meet here in California were very nice to me, they always love our culture, but who knows, it might be different from other Cubans in other regions. Though the Cubans in the Northeastern tend to be very mix looking, a lot of quadroon, terceron looking types, they are probably jealous of Mexicans since Mexicans in Northeastern US are native Americans while Cubans tend to claim their 1% native over their 30-40% ssa blood


I've been to New York, and yeah it seems there is some tension between Dominicans and Puerto Ricans, also with Mexicans which I feel bad for the Mexican community out there, they get treated like shit by pork chops. Like I told this Dominican family, if we Chicanos of California settled in New York, trust me that these pork chops would think twice before ever looking down on us, we have a very different personality and mentality than these Mexicans up here who are very quiet and kept to themselves.

But thankfully there is a growing number of Chicanos from the southwest relocating in New York, there is a neighborhood in NY with many Chicanos from the southwest.



The beef with Colombians and Venezuelans, I've heard of it, one of my new coworkers is Venezuelan, she just started today and she was talking badly about Colombians when I had mistaken her Colombian due to her accent. But yeah it was kinda funny.



The Latinos we Mexicans/Chicanos get along just fine are definitely with Colombians and Costa Ricans, all others have some beef with Mexicans because they see us as superior and suffer from inferiority complexes, they always get mad when we see them as below

Thats probably why you dont get along with puerto ricans. Because you talk alot of crap about them. If you were humble you would probably get along easier. Most people get along fine. I work with an argentinian co worker and I work for one also. And I talked with a salvadorean guy. They are ok. You just need to be humble and stop trying to fight all the time.

For puerto rican and dominicans many co exists and have friends with each other. Its only some people that have those issues make it a scene. My mothers puerto rican and she has dominican friends. But for older generations most of their friends are people they knew for years grew up so its more within their own ethnic group. My father is old friends with a cuban also. My puerto rican sister is married to a cuban and he seems cool.

Brazil x Argentina - mostly because of football, but I consider them bros, but both sides can be annoying at times with maradona x pele shitstorm..

Brazil x Paraguay - culturally, sometimes economically and football too . I have a lot in common with paraguayans and I consider myself part paraguayan although I have no blood ties with them. I have a great a affinity with their culture, sometimes I like theirs more than brazilian's, of course this being due to the fact that I have relatives that married PYs and that a great chunk of the land near me used to belong to them in the past. hell even my neighbor speaks guarani loudly LOL



Paraguayan culture seems close to gaucho, which I have ancestry in. so it fits well.

Here in Rio no one care about Latin America. Im glad to live in a patriot State.
