Default UFO experience, Do you want to believe?

Have you ever had some UFO experience? Do you think UFO's are just an urban legend? would you like to be invaded by extraterrestrials?

I don't believe in UFOs anymore but when I was in high school me and my friends saw some weird lights in the sky during night and speculated that those were UFOs.

My mom lives in a one-horse town in the middle of the desert. The closest city is 600km away, so there is NO light pollution. The Milky Way is so bright there that it casts shadows. When we go visit her my husband takes his telescope but there is no point to taking a telescope because you can see everything you want to (and more!) with the naked eye.

According to her neighbour there are UFO's in the sky every night. Other people in the town also report seeing UFO's regularly. So of course we have to go star gazing to see these amazing UFO's. What a disappointment: the UFO's were nothing but satellites happily cruising in their orbit and because there is no light pollution you can see dozens of them. No aliens - it was only ISS and Friends.

That's so amazing, I've never seen Milky way with my own eyes, and it's just up there.

The closest image I could find was this one, taken about 200km away from where my mom lives. She lives even further away from the city than this location which is about 400km inland. The stars are so dense that at some points you can't tell them apart. It really looks like someone took a splash of milk across the sky.

Imagine that stretching above your head, all the way around you, wherever you look, as bright as day. When you hold your hand in front of you, you can see shadow on the ground.

It is an extremely humbling experience. You just stand there and..... wow. There are no words to describe it. You just stand and look... and look... and look.

Here is another shot from the same location. And yes, it really is that bright in real life, not just on the photo.

But I can confidently report that there are no UFO's there.

It's amazing and unbelievable at the same time that we who live in big cities are being robbed from this scene. It's night time here and i can count only few stars up there.

I can only agree with you there. You are being robbed. There are millions of people who live and die in cities and cannot even begin to comprehend what is really going on up there.

The best places to see stars is in the southern hemisphere - Chile, South Africa (Karoo - where my mom lives) and Australia where the galactic center is directly overhead. In the northern hemisphere you will see it in the southern part of the sky only (provided you live far out enough).

I wish for you that you see this at least once in your life. Even if never again, just once is enough. You will remember it until the day you die.

    Here is another brilliant shot..

Sooner or later they will have to make it public.
