    "My legs have grown quite a bit since I started doing this". Can't fathom how thin they were before.

    All in all, just another sensationalistic claim. There have been both heel-walking and ball-walking periods and peoples around for a long time, and thicker shoe soles which could facilitate landing on heel existed far before Late Medieval/Renaissance period. The changes of footwear were anything but linear.
