Why did Brits adopt foreign Germanic language instead of continuing speaking native Celtic?

The Britons, also known as Celtic Britons or Ancient Britons, were Celtic people who inhabited Great Britain from the British Iron Age into the Middle Ages, at which point their culture and language diverged. They spoke the Common Brittonic language, the ancestor to the modern Brittonic languages.

English is a West Germanic language that was first spoken in early medieval England and is now the third most widespread native language in the world, after Standard Chinese and Spanish, as well as the most widely spoken Germanic language.

Because Celtic people USED to live in Britain, modern British people are Germanic Saxons and Angles.. so Germanic.

Not to mention that Normans (mix of Vikings of Rollo + Franks) invaded and conquered again...

Celtic presence in Britain is Ancient History... there are some I2 people in Ireland I think .

It's a good question. Anglo-Saxon admixture in the English is probably about 28%. But that's enough for a ruling class to become dominant and remember that it took over 200 years for the Celtic tribes to be defeated so it would have been a gradual language replacement.

Interesting thing: English has almost none Celtic Influence other than Western Dialects. Much more Latin & French.

Seem like Celts had no power at all.

Same in France. French words of Celtic origin are like 3-5% or something.

Some Welsh still speak Cymru and some Scots still speak Gaidhlig. Also, there are no pure Celts in Britain the so called Celts are heavily mixed with Germanic. For instance, both AncestryDNA and MyHeritage say I am Celtic, Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian. So how am I speaking a completely foreign language ? I am not.
