(I'm posting this in Politics and Ideology, because, although the debate has to do with genetics, I see it ultimately as ideological in nature)

Okay, so this thread is for continuing the debate in the chatbox that just ended for now, mainly between Ojancanu, Debaser11, Savant, Iberia, myself plus a few others.

Hopefully this thread will make for a more structured and constructive discussion.

The topic is what role (if any) genetics play in the formation of ethnicities and societies: would a white person born and raised in Japan be considered Japanese? If races of people do not matter, then why do dog breeds matter? And what kind of climates are ideal for building civilizations?

Others can of course comment too, but I insist you keep it on topic.
