While you are technically correct, none of the beliefs, which are not supported by the bible and held by catholics are somehow crucial to attain salvation. The core beliefs of catholics and you are exactly the same, you just disagree on irrelevant fringes, essentially.

You're totally wrong. Sola fide--through faith alone--was the most crucial part of the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther rightly called it: “the article with and by which the church stands.”

That's "catholic" with a small c, though Not the institutionalized behemoth we know today as the Roman Catholic Church.

In any case I think this thread title is a bit extreme and too much a case of lumping all Catholics into one basket. I think for the sake of understanding we should change it. We can debate the merits of the Catholic church, of course, as usual in this thread, and whether it has deviated from the message of the early apostles, or not.
