The pope's title is that of the so-called vicar of Christ. The term "vicar" means "vicarious" or "in the place of." The interesting thing is the Greek word "anti" also can be used to mean "in the place of." See: https://biblehub.com/str/greek/473.htm and consider just one example of this use:

    Matthew 5:38:
GRK: ἐρρέθη Ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ καὶ
KJV: An eye for an eye,

The office of the papacy, claiming to be the substitute for Jesus, is antichrist. Jesus even warned that *many* will come in His name claiming to be Him:

"For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Matthew 24:5)

The Roman Catholic Church fulfills many other prophecies as well... for example, in Latin, the phrase VICARIUS FILII DEI ("vicar of the Son of God"), appropriated at times by the papists, has a value of 666 if you add it up in terms of which Romans letters have numerical values (i.e., they are also Roman numerals... so that excludes the Latin characters with no numeric value):

    VICARIVS FILII DEI

    5+1+100+1+5+1+50+1+1+500+1 = 666

Many Protestants historically have recognized the pope as the Man of Sin and the Roman Catholic Church as the "MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH" (Revelation 17:5) for her spiritual fornication, persecution of the saints, denial of apostolic/biblical doctrine, and salvation based on works/sacraments. This is complete with lying signs and wonders from Satan (e.g., apparitions of "Mary," stigmata, etc.) which, according to 2 Thessalonians 2, God will send to those who did not believe the truth, so that they will believe a lie, that they might be damned.

The Book of Revelation has an exhortation to any who might be God's people who are Catholic:

"[...] Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Revelation 18:4)[/QUOTE]

Those who want to live, let them fight, and those who do not want to fight in this world of eternal struggle do not deserve to live.

Even if this were hard--that is how it is ! Assuredly, however, by far the harder fate is that which strikes the man who thinks he can overcome Nature, but in the last analysis only mocks her. Distress, misfortune, and diseases are her answer.

Reformer Protestants reject all tradition and oral sayings of earliest Christian culture, and therefore they do not know how to correctly baptize since the New Testament doesn't have detailed instructions on it. It is understandable since the document was written primarily to those who had converted and were baptized already. More detailed instructions are found in the Didache, an extra-Scriptural source. Hence believers in sola scriptura have had endless debates on the subject.

    Absolutely not true!

As for baptism, we know perfectly well how to baptize. If you want to get too technical about it, it probably shows that your priority is more about tradition than it is about obeying Jesus.

Yes, it is. Everyone who worships Jesus as son of only God is Christian. The question is if today's Christianity is a monotheist religion anymore? The God is one but in three Divine Persons, there is Virgin Mary in thousands of local incarnations that is much more widely worshipped than God, we also have bunch of Saints, Blessed, Doctors of the Church, Servants of God, Angels...

Not only that, but Catholicism teaches baptism as a requirement for salvation, which is heresy. Regeneration and faith are given by the Holy Spirit (John 1:12-13, 3:1-8).

Baptism is a commandment of Christ and an act of obedience to Him. It's symbolic of saving faith, and an act of identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. But baptism itself does not confer salvation or regeneration.

Plus, the Greek word for baptism means immersion. And faith must come first (Acts 8:36-37).

If I wanted to be offensive I would say that it looks like a large man-made mythology.

Many Protestants teach that no one baptized Catholic can be saved, though. Acts also mentions Cornelius who was righteous (10:1-4, 14), yet unsaved (11:14).
