I saw people talking about what the word 'Lakhta' means - it's the name of the historical district which once used to be a village where the skyscraper has been built. The Finns from Finland have nothing to do with the name - there are countless place names all around St. Petersburg that have Ingrian Finnish origin - Sertolovo, which is Sierattala, Pargolovo - Parkala, Kuyvozi - Kuivaisi, Lembolovo - Lempaala, and so many others. Lakhta was originally called Lahti or Lahdenkylä, meaning 'village at the bay'. There's a city called Lahti in Finland. So the name is quite widespread.

Lahti can also mean when somebody has been butchered its a lahti, but here it likely means bay.
