    "Anglophones" are not good at foreign languages because they will always find English speaking people everywhere they go.

    The British Ambassador to Turkey, Richard Moore was very good at Turkish though..

    Foreign languages are not the Anglo's forte, because English is the lingua franca though, not that they're incapable.

    But then I would say that the Brits are the best of the bunch, just because of our location in Europe which grants easy access to native speakers/high level instructors. French, I think is the most popular 2nd language in Britain and Canada, Spanish in the USA. I don't know about the Aussies and Kiwis though.

    Because Canada is officially bilingual in a way that the US is not. All the same, at least in big cities in the US you can usually find someone who speaks Spanish in almost every shop, restaurant, bank, post office etc., ironically kind of like how you can find someone who speaks English in those kinds of places in the big cities of all sorts of countries, except maybe in Francophone Africa and Central Asia.
