I m not found of the sound of French in French songs except for the classical Chansonne Françoise and perhaps pop rap like those of Stromae.

I listen more to English and Latin american music for example

But I like French language. I studied it also at high school, together with French literature also studied in French.

Althought It seems i ve forgotten French as I use everyday only english

I'm fairly neutral toward French. Not particularly in love with it, but there are moments when I like it. It's not an easy language in my opinion. Very idiomatic and very inarticulately spoken.

Yeah, but an American living here speaking just English is considered an eternal foreigner and faces more closed doors. I know you'd be fine with that, but it's some knowledge about the local land you'd not know versus you today who did bother learning other languages. So you'd certainly see the world differently than you do now.

You'd be missing out on 'invaluable' interaction with the Flemish plebs. Haha.

By the way. One teacher French of mine didn't like me because she felt I never put effort into my French. Probably paid some role in my liking the language even less, but I am actually fairly neutral toward it. It just takes a lot of daily practice to truly excel at it, and time just happens to be limited and it's not as if French is the only interesting foreign language to me.

Now, with the knowledge I have today I'd ace French in school, probably, but I still am a poor French speaker regardless.

French isn't soft or melodic, it's one of the worst sounding Latin languages (along with Portuguese) and big parts of it are artificial however it is one of the most superior languages, it is rich, it has replaced and standardized many other languages. Also, saying "Bonjour" when you're in another country shows you don't give a shit about their language, it's typically my attitude when I'm in Germany, I say "Bonjour", "Merci", "Au revoir" and I know the Germans don't like that but there's no way I'm speaking their Nazi language.
