Generally speaking the Iberians aren't much interested in athletical performance.
Though they are richly endowed with snowy mountains they never reap a single medal in the Winter Olympics.
This year Portugal has sent to Korea only 2 contenders (Liechtenstein: three!)

It s not enough.. It needs all year round snowy peaks and a culture of valley-mountain to excell in snow sports

In italy for example all the athletes are usually from the Alpine valleys

But however snowy mountainous Abruzzo never excelled and doesn't t have a culture of snowy sports like the Alpines instead do have.

If we exclude Alberto Tomba and a Tuscan from the appennine athlete wich i Don t remember the name, for italy.. All of our ski great Champions were from the Alpine Valleys

It's simple: lack of government investment or support.
Every Olympics we hear about the complaints of athletes regarding poor conditions and little government support.

In fact, they are not successful in any industry/media. In music then, there is no Portuguese singer who is famous outside Portugal.

Our music is for internal consumption only. We don't really care if foreigners listen to it.

Portugal at least does not play with all is teams full of foreigners, in fact ethnic French are really incompetent in sports. All your national teams are leaded by foreigners, since handball, basket, football, rugby, all.

But she trains on the high plateau of Eastern France (Jura)
