Gloria in excelsis Deo (Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis 191), a Church Cantata composed by J.S. Bach in 1733, was first performed at a Christmas Day Service in 1745, in Leipzig, Germany, to celebrate the Peace of Dresden.

It's popular and fashionable to perform Bach's Gloria in excelsis Deo during Christmas Time Festivities. I was singing it yesterday (December 15th) in the Bass Section, During one of our Masterworks Chorale Christmas Concerts.
