Athens asks Tirana to delete the term "Chamaria" from Albanian textbooks
Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Kodzias urged Albania to "clean up" school textbooks from the "Cham Issue".

Kodzias said that during the talks of the Joint Expert Commission, the Greek side made it clear to Albanian officials that the terms "Albanian territories in Greece" and the term "Chamariya" for part of the Greek territory should be erased from textbooks on history and geography because these are irredentist concepts.

For the head of Greek diplomacy, the Cham problem does not exist for an official Athens. Albanian television "Klan" informed that the Greek minister requested the deletion of the term "Chami" also at the meeting with his Albanian counterpart, Ditmir Bushati.

At the last meeting of the mixed Greek-Albanian Expert Commission, the Greek side categorically demanded the deletion of textbooks in words about some "Albanian territories in Greece".

"Also, the Greek geographical area, which is named as" Chamariya "in the textbooks, unfortunately shows that the Albanian state is blocked in nationalist rhetoric. It hurts first of all to Albania itself, "Kodzias said.

Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati also reacted to this topic, which confirmed that a joint working group was set up to "evaluate history textbooks in both countries". Earlier, Greek President, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, threatened Albania that if it wanted in the EU, it should "close its mouth for some non-existent issue for the Chams".

Interesting reportage considering this is not reported in Albanian nor Greek news outlets.

Kotzias (not Kodzias as reported) is in Vienna with Dimitrov and Nimetz

Another fabrication, I guess - we are getting used to it. But very blockheaded and sloppy all the same - I sincerely hope you agree.

Yes, I'm sure the Greeks will come up with some other brakes too eg., Greek minority in Albania.

Greek Foreign Ministry Reacts to Albanian Provocation Over Greek Lands

    By Philip Chrysopoulos - Jun 27, 2017

Greece’s foreign ministry on Monday sent a letter of complaint to the Albanian government over a provocative act that challenges Greek lands.

The reason for the foreign ministry was an irredentist act at the central square of Tirana, which was inaugurated during the pre-election period.

Specifically, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, who belongs to the Socialist Party of election winner and current Prime Minister Edi Rama, rebuilt a part of the capital’s main square to prepare it for a pre-election rally.

In the part of the square they placed a stone from every part of the Albanian lands, including the Greek town of Filiates naming it “a part of the enslaved Chameria.”

Albanian Chams believe that the particular land they call their own was forcibly taken from them by the Greeks of Epirus and deny them the rights of ethnic minorities. They also claim that Greece’s Thesprotia region is in fact Cham land and should be returned to Albania.

According to an earlier report in Epiruspost.gr, Deputy Mayor of Tirana Arbjan Mazniku said that the stone from Filiates is put in the square for symbolic reasons and that the square represents all Albanians.

“This is the square of all Albanians, wherever they are, and all Albanian groups are represented in this square. It is our square and we have judged that this is right. Of course there is a stone from Chameria, a stone from Filiates,” the deputy mayor said.

“We condemn the placement, in the renovated central square of Tirana, stones coming from various parts of the Balkans, including the Greek area of Filiates,” reads the Greek foreign ministry report.

The announcement says that the ministry has informed “friends, partners and international organizations” of the irredentist act, and does so after the election “respecting the electoral process in the neighboring country, and had not issued (earlier) any public announcements that could be misinterpreted and distorted as interference in the pre-election process.”

We know all about this back in 2017 - but Kotzias last met with Albanian officials in mid January not this week.

Really? when Albanian school books depict large chunks of Greece as Albania, and even politicians like Berisha post such maps on their facebook?

Remember it was your Yugoslav leader that created the pseudo Slavic Macedonian identity and came knocking on Greece’s door in the hope of annexing Greek territories and accessing the Aegean.

Then the Albanians came knocking at your door and you lost Kosovo, and soon you will lose half of Fyrom too.

Now even Bulgarians come knocking at your door, guess why

Borisov said his country objected to the idea of neighbouring Macedonia being renamed with a geographical qualifier, such as "Northern", as it might then encourage Macedonian territorial claims against Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister told TV+ channel that different versions of Macedonia’s potential future name have been discussed in Bulgaria, including "Northern Macedonia."

"I said that we would not accept this, since the next day they would say Blagoevgrad [in Bulgaria] is Macedonian," Borisov said, referring to the town in southwestern Bulgaria close to the Macedonian border.

Even if our worthless government agrees to the name Macedonia, ignoring the vast majority of Greeks that oppose this, it will never pass through the parliament. Syriza will return to 3% in the next elections and many from Syriza will end up in prison if they give up the name Macedonia for the Skopjans to use for International use.

It doesn’t matter what the rest of the world calls you, what matters is that we will never recognize you as Macedonia. Good luck with your Albanian and Turkish allies.

The term doesn't matter if it is deleted or not.
The "Albanian territories in Greece" is what should be deleted.
That's our problem though. We are way to friendly and accepting with snakes. We paid the price when those snakes collaborated with the nazis back then, and we still accepted them after the collapse of communism.
If only had a ballsy politician, who would start deporting them asap....
