Austria or England, Who is more Germanic?

Hard to answer, but England is genetically closer to Scandinavians and northern Dutch/Germans than Austria is despite being primarly Britonnic. Austrian Celts were probably quite more southern shifted, hence more neolithic admixture. Eastern part of Austria is almost semi Slavic, but western part is pred. Celto-Germanic and still not that similar to England.
Even southern English like Cornish shift north from Austrians, not to mention north English.

My point is that native Britons were genetically closer to early Germanics than Hallstat Celts were and that both nations are quite mixed.

The one Hallstatt Celt on Gedmatch appears quite French like. The other one isn't on there as far as I know. Austrians are a more southern population than the English and Northern Germans are closer genetically to the English. The Germanic / Celtic thing that people use is not apparent genetically. Austrians and Southern Germans are closer to the Hallstatt Celts. British have a lot of Insular Celtic blood but the Insular Celts are not particularly close to Hallstatt Celts on genetic plots that I've seen. Insular Celts are themselves closer to Scandinavians, Dutch and Northern Germans than Austrians are. So the whole question is not that straight forward unless you use language. As far as language goes both English and Austrians are Germanic.

The English ethnicity only came about when the Anglo-Saxons came to Britain in the 5th Century and merged with the Britons there. Austrians would have been Germanic for longer but there was no English ethnicity before the Anglo-Saxons.

Longer? Austrian history dates back only to 976 AD, they are younger than Anglo-Saxon kingdoms:

This right here. I'd say it's an interesting toss- up because the Germanic Austrians tended to descend from Bavarians who themselves had significant Celtic admixture ( while towards the south and east Slavic influences obviously increase), while the English tend toward a more Celto- Germanic shift ( Germanic including the Norse as well as the Anglo- Saxons). I would vote England.

England. Both the English and Austrians have a decent amount of Celtic blood (Celts originated in Austria), but Austrians get a lot of Slavic too.

Austria began as a frontier region of Bavaria, and Austrians are descended from Bavarians (+ Non-Germanic peoples they absorbed).
