There is even minor Balkanic admixture in Austria, from Illyrians who inhabited parts of it before Celts and Germans settled. Possibly Italic too in certain parts. Southern England has minor Roman though.

Do we know what the Illyrians were genetically like before they migrated to the Balkans?

Austrians. English are more celtic than German, whilst there is of course Germanic blood within the English most English are anglicized Celts. This does depend on the region, south-east English have more German dna than someone from the north-west.

Illyrians came to the Balkans from present day Austria.

Illyrians were close cousins of Celts and Italics, and not real paleo-Balkanians.

There is likely not much of population continuity in Austria between Celtic times and modern times.

Austria was overran by Avars, Slavs and Magyars in the Early Middle Ages, and later by Bavarians.

That said those Bavarians were probably Celtic-admixed.

The English get their names from the Angles. One can say that the English ethnicity originated in southern Schelswig and then assimilated other Germanic (in addition to Celtic) tribes after they migrated to Great Britain.

No, we only have one Illyrian sample from the Balkans so far (like one from Dalmatia/dinaric Alps), and he was pred. neolithic with visible steppe component, as well as common steppe mtdna. His Y dna was J2b2 L283.

Yes, but before than they came from Pontic steppes.

That's simply not true and unsuported by any kind of evidence. They were cousins of Dacians and Thracians.

English people often have a distinct look, which Im not so familiar with personally, but I know that Austrians, however they generally have some slavic admix, are resemble more to Germans. And who would be more Germanic then a typical German . English people are pred. saxon celtic mix, so have a good chunk of germanic. I would consider Austrians more germanic, but the dna of each person can differs in both region aswell.

English cluster closer to Dutch and North-Sea Germanic populations. Austrians cluster closer to Central Europe and Central-Eastern European populations.

The English have Celtic admixture on top of this, and the Austrians have Slavic admixture.
