Yeah but I realized I was dealing with fags when I'd go on vacation as a kid and I saw that they didn't know how to play 'off the wall.' It's like.. wtf? (in case someone is a total fag and doesn't know how to play 'off the wall'. You throw a tennis or racket ball against the wall and if someone makes an attempt to catch the rebound but misses he has to run to the wall before he gets pegged with the ball.)

Why is fighting even allowed, if not tacitly encouraged, in hockey? In football, fighters are usually kicked out of games after punches are thrown - followed by severe fines/suspensions.

To be fair, I don't care much about it but the fact that fighting is so casually accepted causes me to see hockey as more of a brutal and barbaric sport. I am not trying to knock hockey, rather I am attempting to seek a greater understanding of this aspect of the sport.

I dunno. I suspect it evolved as means to keep the sport safer. If you notice most fights happen after big hits. So, it's a intimidating factor, if you play dirty you better prepare to get beat up -> this proves hockey is most gentlemanly sport as non-gentleman behaviour is not tolerated at all

Meanwhile soccer allows that dickhead Saurez to go around biting people on multiple occasions with no consequences. He should be permanently barred from playing. He brings shame upon the whole sport.
