Those gurus usually possesed by strong demons who can perform interesting mindblowing tricks (saw them) so these shepple think they are gods.
But just because demon can do something you can't doesn't mean he is god, it mean s he is evil and different.
I feel sorry for those people.

Prabhupada's followers are most certainly not referred to as his worshipers or devotees. There are no official Hare Krishna websites or establishments that involve asking him to be as an intercessor. Doing puja to a guru may resemble Deva puja but the clear factor is that the guru is not extolled with the same names of the Divinities or put on the same level of the Divinities.
However
- most Hindus are ignorant, and serious gurus are rare(as opposed to the frequency of clergy in Christianity), they are so rare that they are naturally held with high esteem
for Brahmins they have a rank and file spiritual heirarchy, the guru symbolizes the Rishi
in Advaita obviously, a "self-realized Soul" = Brahman, so yeahhh
- the over emphasis of the guru spills into him becoming Divinized
I'm too tired to respond more now, will do so later.
