Their name was invented here in our country, and was kelti, not selti, so calling them "selts" is just ridiculous

Today we call them "keltes", and when I have to call them in English I say kelts

It's pronounced with a hard K. That "Selt" pronunciation is for the football team. I don't know how you pronounce the Boston Celtics in the US? The people are called the Celts as in (kelt).

In the US, the people are Seltic or Keltic, about half of the time for each.

The team is pronounced with the S sound.

I always pronounced it Keltic and didn't hear it with the 's' sound until recently. I think people get confused because of the popular football team, like was already mentioned.

With a K. 'Keltic' is proper, especially in an academic context. If you're talking about sports teams i.e. Boston Celtics, Glasgow Celtic FC, etc. 'Seltic' is appropriate. 'Seltic' (whether just informally I don't know) also seems to be more commonly used in Britain and Ireland.
