Of course not. Irish right off of the boats got drafted during the Civil War and were sent off to die. Lincoln allowed wealthy types to buy out of serving. The war was largely poor whites killing poor whites.

Many say the war was not about slavery. I beg to differ. Slavery was very much the reason why the south seceded from the union.
