I've heard this before and don't know if I buy it. They have a verifiable and significant amount of non-Caucasoid which is evident in phenotype and genetic makeup

Yes and no. Some Indians are more Caucasoid than others.

Indians though there was Caucasoid it is mixed now heavily with SouthEast Asia types, Vedda, Gondid types so many show Caucasoid genes but might look very Indian. There is also Turanic Caucasus type that is there in some communities.

India is pretty diverse place in terms of genetics and phenotypes. There are Arabs from Yemen in India in Tamil Nadu who are fully Tamilized for example.

yes, there is some arab like old mix found in some tribal which might be Chalcolithic age in South or along coast

''India'' is a modern nation created by European colonialism and ''ancient India'' doesn't even correlate with modern borders of Republic of India (it also included Pakistan, parts of Afghanistan and even Southeast Asia). You can find everything in this area, from purely Caucasoid types to purely Mongoloid.

But what we call ''Indians'' (mainstream Indian groups) are usually different percentages of Caucasoid, Mongoloid and Veddoid blood.

Indians is a very broad term. Northern Indians are generally caucasoid yes. Southern Indians are mixed race.
