Easily, settler, European colonies in the colder areas, and half of Africa moved to the tropical ones to be put in plantations (See Jamaica and Belize). Most Amerinds would have been made extinct of course.

It probably would work out as a much more prosperous continent, with a tonne more Indians (from India/Pakistan/Bangladesh) imported to service the empire's bureaucracy and till the fields. Though soon enough, they'd end up managing the bureaucracies and the slaves. And then owning most of the economy.

Look at almost every former British territory, they all have/had Indian political/economic dominance. From Fiji to Ghana... Indian billionaires and presidents. It's basically the fingerprint of the British Raj. Why would Latin America be any different.

Tropical Latin America colonized by British would have been even more shithole than current Spanish/Portuguese-colonized tropical Latin America. It wouldn't be (even in the wettest dreams) like temperate latitude British colonized countries like Canada, US, Australia and NZ, but it would be full of negroes, and all very poor and undeveloped like Belize, Guyana, or black African countries colonized by British, like Nigeria. And high mountain countries like Mexico (center to north) and Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, would be mostly Amerindian and very poor and undeveloped.

Most of today's Portuguese/Spanish colonized tropical Latin American countries are far better than British colonized Belize, Guyana or Nigeria.

And temperate latitude Latin American countries colonized by Portuguese (southern Brazil) and by Spaniards (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay) are not as developed as US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, but they still have a decent level of development and standard of living (similar level to several eastern European countries), and are very far from being shit holes whatsoever.
