How many Americans have Jewish ancestry?

My personal estimate is that 8 milions of White Americans are either full or partially of Jewish ancestry. In 1938 American Jews were 4.9 milions so if we look at the growing rate of Non Hispanic Whites, the number of Jewish Americans should be 8.3 milions as of 2017. Considering they had lower birth rates but also higher immigration rates post-Holocaust I believe it's safe to round down their number to 8 milions.
For all intents and purposes I consider Jews as Whites.

8 million People with Jewish parents
10 million Enlarged Jewish population
12 million. People who can move to Israel under Law of Return

(Jewish source).

And many more have distant or hidden ancestry. (which doesnt necessarily make them a Jew). For example many Germans, Poles, Spanish, Russians, Mestizos may have that ancestry.
