What is white?

Lets be honest, in this day and age, every single European group, including Jews, are pretty much accepted as white in America. Im not asking if an Italian is white, Im asking is it right to base whiteness on purity rather than appearance and culture?

People like to over complicate things. As Americans we may have a different idea of this compared to others. I think light skinned caucasians are white at the end of the day even though this is a constant point of contention on this forum.

This is true and I think this is the primary problem with WN types. The spectrum shouldnt shift. I dont think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out who is and is not white. Blacks dont have a problem figuring out who is and is not black. I usually go with the “Purely or of majority European ancestry” rule in determining whiteness, though there are rare cases where there are white North Africans and one could say that pure native Berbers and Levantines (Yes Jews too) are white. This is also what I dont understand about WN. The Ancient Israelites have, for two millenia, been recorded as being light skinned and even the first depiction of Jesus is pretty damn white.

its neither right to base whiteness on purity nor on appareance and culture. i will explain.

A) a 90% european latino is a white latino, i dont believe in one drop rule. there are many white americans who have a native american great great grandparent, and there was even the pocahantos rule some hundred years ago "the pocahontos exception" it said that you can be up to 1/16 native american and still be white.
B)a dark italian who looks arabic is still white because he is italian.
for example this guy could easy be rather latino/mestizo then white in usa by appearance but once he reveals he is italian he will be white.

I watch medical detectives and they dont say "europeans=white race" they talk only in skin colours when they describe a suspect like "a man with white skin colour" or "the suspect is of white skin colour" as if thats the only thing which matters, the colour of your skin.

White and Black as categories become more relevant as groups of "whites" and "blacks" come into interaction with each other.

It's easy to identify with your nation when your nation is 95% or higher the same ethnicity as you are. If you ask an American his ethnicity, he'll say he's white. If you take the time to inquire more, he'll explain that his mother's side is from Ireland and his father's side from Germany or whatnot. But it's harder to get into specifics when you're more likely to be descended from multiple European nations. It's just easier to say white.
