How come Catholics haven't assimilated well into American society?

Even the European Catholics. They still have their own schools and social circles that rarely intersect with the mainstream. I don't like them very much I don't think.

We're not a Freemasonic country...my great-great-grandfather hated the freemasons and was active in political movements opposing them.

Catholic schools in USA and Canada are slightly different (organization, moderation, etc). Thats the feeling I get.

Yet both are superior to "public" schools.

I'm not judging them as schools, I'm pointing out that they're still a very separate world to mainstream society. Catholics have a clannish attitude and dislike Protestants and Jews.
