Their structure is way more complex than the one of some company trying to leech the munnies out of us naive innocents. The members of the church actually do believe in it's teachings, and thus they do the stuff they're told to with sincere conviction, not nearly just because of profit, which makes it much, much more complex sociological phenomenon than you've implied.

Yeah. And in their case it works way better due to the sincerity of their members. Their way is much more efficient than in case of "regular" companies. My point was, this whole approach is way more complex than just "make people give the money in their own cash bowl, take the excess and then repeat" or whatever.

Because they promote backward views socially and educationally. These people that believe evolution is a myth, that the Earth is flat, and that the world is ~10,000 years old are all evangelical Protestants.

Problem is, you cant. I hate Christianity as much as the next rational individual, but Evangelical Protestants are America. Like the nation was founded by religious extremists who were tossed out of Europe for various reasons. The Puritans were so extreme that the Anglicans wanted them gone, the Quakers were too peaceful, the Anabaptists (contrary to popular belief) were involved in a series of wars, etc.
