East Med I'm assuming would be Cypriots and/or Dodacanese Islanders (which are less Caucasus shifted than Cypriots). Not sure about the Gracile Med component but I do see it in some East Aegeans and Cypriots. In mainland Greece it's pretty rare. As far as mainlanders are concerned I would say that there are Pontids with slight Gracile Med influence, Dinarids, Alpine Meds and Atlanto Meds with Cro-mag influence. I've not seen a Greek mainlander classified as Gracile Med.

Gracile Med is a common Aegean islands type I think.

I don't think so because East Mediterranid is longer faced than Gracile Mediterranid.

Most people think East Med as Cappadocian Med, although East Med is an umbrella term for brunet, dolichocephal, long faced Eastern Europeans and Central Asians. Since Cappadocian Med is North Iranid plus Gracile Mediterranid, I can say that the original poster is somehow correct.

You are assuming alot of nonesense^
Cypriots and Dodecanese Islanders are not all East Meds in the sense you described.
They have also Med types commong among other Greeks.

The living races and peoples of Europe

The Races of Europe - An Outline

"the Pontid subrace of the East-Mediterranean race"

The Races and Peoples of Southeast Europe

"In Greece the Dinarids predominate only in the western part. Toward the northeast more East-Mediterraneans are found."

"Bulgaria and southeastern Macedonia appear to be predominantly East-Mediterranean in race."

The Races and Peoples of Russia and Northeast Europe

"In southwestern Russia the predominantly East-Mediterranean region is continued from the Moldau across to the Black Sea port of Odessa."

"The Latvians show some Dinarid and more East-Mediterranean strains."

The racial history of Europe: an outline

"According to the ancient portraits, as well as the cranial evidence, the dark element of the early Indo-Europeans must have consisted predominantly of East-Mediterraneans."

"not all of the living high-skulled peoples of this part of Europe can be regarded as mixtures of the Scando-Nordid (or East-Mediterranean)"

"Evidently, it is much older than the Mongolid admixture in the formerly East-Mediterranid southern Russia."

    " The south-eastemmost Indo-European group - the Indo-Iranians - seem to have been basically East-Mediterranean in race."

    EAST-MEDITERRANID

Refers to the Mediterranid varieties, including Pontid, which are indigenous to the eastern Mediterranean areas. The term has also been applied to a larger selection of eastern European and Central Asian brunet dolichocephalic types, including Orientalids.

    @Hellenas

This is inaccurate though isn't it because Dinarid is not a predominant type anywhere in Greece except the North West"Epirus"
    where it is Dinarid-Alpine

With Dinaric he mean partly Dinaric types, mostly Alpine-Dinarics. of Epirus etc.

I think in most regions of West Greece Alpine and Med types are more common than Dinarics

For most regions it goes either like this

    Alpine>Med>Dinaric or Med>Alpine>Dinaric

    Right?

    Epirus has strong Dinaric admixture.

    Epirot.

A characteristic of this type is hyperbrachycephaly, probably the largest across Europe wth cephalic index 88. Almost one in two representatives of this type has wide occipital. The face width (diameter of zygomatics/ cheekbones) is the largest in Greece. The shape of the nose is curved and rarely straight.

The effect of this type outside Epiros is particularly perceptible in western Macedonia, and to a lesser degree in central Greece and western Peloponnesos, but also beyond the borders of Greece. The Epirotic/ Continental type extends along the whole of Pindos and in Agrafa. We could even call him as "Pindic", but we would limited its geographical area only in Greece, while the term "Epirotic" in the sense of "Continental" embraces a large part of the European continent. Is a primeval type in our area and native obviously.

    (A. N. Poulianos 1993).

"The origin of the Greeks", pages 131-135, year 2001.

    http://hellas2010.proboards.com/thre...aris-poulianos

Hyperbrachycephaly, wide occipital, curved noses. All these are Dinaric features.

Can be found in Epirus, western Macedonia, to a lesser degree in central Greece and western Peloponnesos, Pindos and in Agrafa(Central Greece), also beyond the borders of Greece.
