Because the French owned the land west of the 13 Colonies.

The American Revolution was influenced by Britain's conciliatory policy towards Native Americans, West of the 13 Colonies. Basically, The British Empire tried to uphold the territorial integrity of the Native Americans, but Colonial America didn't like that, and they were already pouring over the Appellation Mountains (into the vast uncut timberlands).

British intentions were misinterpreted by many of the Native American Tribes, because of their poorly managed diplomatic skills. In 1763, after the British Victory in the French and Indian War, the British failed to comprehend the rapport between the French and Indians; and, the British didn't send gifts to the Indians, as did the French; consequently, the Native American Tribes took offense.

Indian discontent led to Indian Wars, and many of the British outposts were overrun. In response to the Flare up of Indian Wars (in this case it was the Pontiac Rebellion), London enacted a truce with the Native American Tribes (the Royal Proclamation of 1763), which forbade Colonial Settlements beyond the Appellation Mountains. But, Colonial America didn't honor that truce.

"When the American Revolution began in 1774, tensions between settlers and Indians became a part of the conflict. The Continental Congress’s attempts to secure Indian alliances largely failed, as most Indians saw the British military as the lesser of two evils in their struggle against settlers’ encroachments upon their land. However, the Oneida and Tuscarora Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy did side with the colonists."

Britain inadvertently triggered the Revolutionary War by looking after French rather than English colonies.

It was us Spaniards that were decisive in your independence. Just search about the figure of Bernaldo de Galvez. George Washington told him to walk on his right on 4th of July because of the importance of Spain soldiers and Spain money. And this is not-explained on USA schools and they prefer to take the reference of France, which did very little for the freedom of the USA. And if we did not sell the Louisiana (30% of today´s USA territory) the USA would be much smaller, or we would have engaged in a much more cruel war.

Spain only dominated the area that was the north of Mexico and the area called Great Louisiana dominated it for a very short time, they gave it to the French (they didn't seem to care much about that area either)

this was empty land in dispute over many countries, huge territories impossible to colonize or defend, could be won, lost, or distributed amicably,
note that almost every North America was claimed by Spain and british already had enough to keep their colonies.
