It matters to the family members who would like all relatives buried in the same place or simply as a show of respect for the person's memory. In this case it's a show of respect. It's not done for 'cultural reasons' in this instance. As someone already pointed out the article's title is misleading.
Don't worry about it. Ghosts aren't real. You'll be okay.Anyway, debating someone's funeral cannot be a healthy thing.

Not sure why he needed to go through all those fuss about his funeral. Probably by the effect of his relatives. They need a place to go and cry over his rotten body.

It is the priest and Church that decide to grant a religious Christian funeral in the Church...
If you are muslim.. or not babtized or a Richard Dawkin's fan ( not an ex atheist who converted before dying ).. be sure that no Anglican-Catholic-( ect ) Christian priest will accept to grant a religious funeral inside a Church..
