An influential American magazine has named London the global capital of the 21st century.

The new issue of New York magazine has paid homage to its sister and rival city of London, claiming the financial, cultural and culinary benefits of London now tower over those of New York. (The world's only two Alpha++ cities.)

Both an ancient and ultra-modern city that's rich in historic architecture and culture along with energy-efficient modern architecture, London has been an innovative city and a major trading centre long before the existence of NY, and London is conveniently located between eastern and western time zones and where world time begins due to the Prime Meridian.

London is the only city in the world to have hosted the international Olympics 3 times. London also won the bid to host the World Athletics Championships in 2017.
London is a leading global city in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transportation.

It is the world's largest financial centre and has the fifth or sixth largest metropolitan area GDP in the world.

London is often regarded as a world cultural capital.

London is the garden capital of the world.

London is in the world's top 4 major fashion capitals known as 'the big four': London, Paris, NY, Milan.

London is in the top 3 film location capitals of the world.

London has more flagship stores than any other city in the world.

It is the world's most-visited city as measured by international arrivals and has the world's largest city airport system measured by passenger traffic.

It is the world's leading investment destination, hosting more international retailers and ultra high-net-worth individuals than any other city.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London

London has the largest concentration of universities, colleges and royal academies in Europe. Some of London's universities are in the world's top ten. London was voted in the top 2 student cities of the world.

TripAdvisor voted London as the most fun city in Europe with over 300 tourist attractions.

Over 300 languages are spoken in London and the city contains 70 varieties of world cuisines.

Video below was made by an American.

"I have been to London now about 50 times and this great city never ceases to amaze me.

London is a fantastic place to visit and has something for everyone.

To explore London properly you will need about a month because it is so big. It covers an area of approx 700 sq miles (1700 sq kms.)

It's hard to pin down exactly what makes London so magical; it may be that constant jostle for balance that is unlike any in the world."

Central London is formed by two ancient cities - City of London and City of Westminster.

In Saxon times, it was known as Lundenwic and during the kingdom of Alfred the Great, its name was changed to Lundenburg. The city was named Londinium under the Romans.

The Great Fire of London in 1666 created widespread devastation, causing major reconstruction work all across the city, which took over 10 years to rebuild.

It has the oldest biggest and deepest Undergound system in the World. 274 stations and covers an area of approx 1000 square miles (2500 sq km)

London has five international airports plus three baby airports.

London has nine major train stations + St Pancras International for high speed undersea rail to France, Belgium, and Germany.

Perhaps if people actually left the major cities and looked they would notice that in-fact England has not gone and little has changed with looks.

This is true in most Western lands and their main urban areas. The issue seems to be how these major cities with their multicultural "flavour" are seen to be influencing the politicians more-so than the regional cities and rural districts. Making wholesale changes to the nature of the nation to satisfy these minorities and their supporters, whether for votes or to be seen "moral", "ethical" and proactive for these newcomers rights.
