I don't know the stats for Punjabis, maybe they are taller than Northern Chinese, who knows. As a whole, Chinese are taller than Indians, so your assertions are wrong. Also, Northern Chinese are generally within European ranges (maybe not Nordic, but at least within Southern European to Central European ranges) in height. That's why you get so many 7 footers from China. China's basketball team is also the tallest on average, because there are so many tall Northerners.

I have noticed Punjabis are pretty tall. Gujaratis seem pretty short to me though.

Ive actually encountered a lot of Punjabis and Gujaratis, so I have been able to tell the difference. Punjabis seem more prideful and honest, in general they are by far the tallest and strongest built among the Indians. Gujaratis seem very clever and fast talkers, but physically small people. They remind me of the people from Zhejiang province in China, who are physically small but clever like the Jews.

Even among South India where many are only 5'4 tall you will sometimes find guys who are as tall or taller with North Indians and also they have a big population so they can always find a tall guy.

As for China, the height difference between the Northern regions of China and the Southern regions are far greater than the difference between Nordics and Southern Europeans. I was in Hainan province which is the southernmost island province by Vietnam and the natives were very small and looked somewhat Southeast Asian, the men were probably 5'6 on average and very slightly built. But there were many tourists from Dongbei in Northeast China and they just towered over the locals, on average about 5'10 with many way over 6'0 and taller than me even, I'm close to 6'2. They were very Northern Asian looking, pale skinned and brawny.

That doesn't mean shit. There are a good number of Taiwanese and Cantonese bodybuilders, but they are still pretty small on average.

I dont trust those stats. Plus, many people in HK are not native there. They come from other regions.

Also there is greater variation among Northern Chinese. You will get way more super tall people in a group of Northerners than Southerners even if the average is relatively close.
