Kosovo PM sacks intelligence chief, interior minister after extradition of Turkish nationals

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj dismissed on Friday the secret service chief as well as the interior minister following the arrest and extradition of six Turkish nationals to Turkey.

On Thursday, 6 high-level members of the religious organisation Turkey’s government has labelled ‘’FETÖ’’and accuses of having orchestrated the failed 2016 coup attempt were apprehended in Kosovo and brought to Turkey, according to reports in the Turkish press.

While the Turkish press held the operation had been headed by Turkey’s National Intelligence Agency (MİT), Kosovan Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, took to Twitter on Thursday evening, indicating that the operation conducted by the Kosovo Intelligence Agency - one which he had not been informed about. Haradinaj, noted he would proceed according to his “legal and constitutional competencies.”



"The entire operation - revoking their residence permits, detention, emergency deportation and the secret extradition to Turkey of the six Turkish citizens from Kosovo territory - was conducted without my knowledge and without my permission,” Haradinaj expressed in a statement.

Kosovo has been facing pressure from Turkey in past weeks to take action against schools located in Kosovo funded by the Gülen movement.
