Secondly, I don't see anything special or unique about the way 'S' is pronounced in the countries within the British Isles.

I absolutely love Jim Morrison's voice and American accent...

I like many types of Irish accents too.

I prefer the sounds of accents in the English speaking nations from the 1960's and 1970's and 1980's eras. Accents change with different eras of time, as noted by a New Zealand news report about the way news broadcasts sounded in different eras.
