Why do many Americans hate the French?

LOL. Great one. I can really sense the butthurt. Actually, Italians began settling in Montreal prior to WWII. Montreal was already heavily Italian prior to WWII. At the time the French largely didn't want them in French schools. Fast forward to the 1960s and 70s, and Quebec nationalism was on the rise. Now the Frogs wanted Italians in their schools, and wanted Italians on their side on this political question, but Italians had been sending their children to English schools, and naturally fought for their right to continue doing so.

Also, FYI, Italians and others were always quite cognizant of that they were moving to the mostly Anglophone nation of CANADA. Italians in Quebec overwhelmingly voted against secession. Still, Italians were quite willing to assimilate both to the local Francophone environment AND to the broader context of Anglophone nation (and the even broader context of Anglophone North America). Italian-Montrealers today are quite often trilingual, even speaking Italian still. Learning both languages was always important to the Italians.

The French language in Quebec needs massive, artificial support to stay afloat. I believe France has language laws, too? Overzealous doesn't even begin to describe the Quebec language police. These bozos have even told Italian restaurants not to call it "pasta".

Italians weren't seen as white by Francophones back then? They should've allowed greasy nightclub wogs in their schools. It was a bad decision and short-term thinking of them.

Only Anglos can use the Wog phrase!! The problem with all of this is there are plenty of French that are more woggy than many Italians. To me the Wog can apply to many many people.

Well, we're speaking English on this forum as a lingua franca, not French or Dutch. It's only normal people take over your slang here.

I noticed that, but Wog is something that is mainly Australian or British. In Britain it applies to South Asians mostly now I believe. In Australia it applied mostly to Southern Europeans, West Asians and even Eastern Europeans. However, I believe now in Australia it is probably transitioning to mean East and South Asians as the others assimilate into society.

Ofcourse not all people from these places follow the typical Woggish look. The people that tend to have to fit the best into the Wog stereotype are some Armenians and Lebanese.

True, but I do not view wog negatively I am find with being a Wog.

I think it was because they were weak allies in WWII. Also, their perceived culture of liberal extravagance goes contrary to the values many Americans profess to hold, such as pragmatism and self-deprivation.
