Why do many Americans hate the French?

I don't dislike anyone on the basis of their ethnicity. I have a lot of respect for them and their culture. I do find some of them I have met to be very preachy and anti American. The Quebecois and Cajun/Creole people seem more laid back to me.

It isn't hate. It is comedy. Just like a Euro says USA has fat Hillbilly, but that Hillbilly will kill you fast in a war.

The USA is much less provincial compared to Britain and France also. Your last name or heritage is not nearly as important here as there.

The Napoleonic wars were France's best performance, yes, but Napoleon was Italian.

France got schlonged by Germany 3 times in 70 years, even if other countries like America eventually bailed them out.

Spain was no longer a great power in 1898 and Napoleon didn't fight or even lead those wars all by himself. The Italians have an embarassing military history in the last century or so. America would have been beaten baddly by the Germans, if it had to fight alone. In ww1 on the western front it's France that had the greatest contribution in men and casualties.

The French have a large leftist streak, that has angered many Conservative Americans.
I don't think most Americans have issues with the French people, but with their rampant libtardism.

Mainly because they are seen as snobby, look down on Americans as uncouth and unsophisticated and are overly fashionable thus not masculine.

I generally really like French culture however, but those are the reasons.

Archie Bunker hated every group. My whole fag shtick is kinda based on this scene.

There isn't a real hatred of France. American TV shows poke fun of all countries.
