The Kuqi of Montenegro share an ancestor with Berisha 4000 years ago which is really distant lol, although oral tradition claims that they come from Berisha but the Berisha e Kuqe may just have been a branch of Berisha which was genetically unrelated to the rest of Berisha. Kuqi is part of the same clade, E-V13>Z16661, as the Bankeqi of the Trieshi clan who according to oral tradition are descended from the brother of the founder of Hoti, Trieshi and the Kuqi share an ancestor from about 1000 years ago so it does suggest that Kuqi had an Albanian ancestor same as that of Trieshi. Although the Kuqi of Kosovo/Drenica belong to a different E-V13 clade, they are E-V13>L241>PH2180 which is shared with some Gashi(Bardhe and Shipshan), Krasniqi and Thaci. What's interesting is that some say that Gashi-Bardhe come from Kuqi and it seems that some share the same clade as the Kuqi of Drenica/Kosovo but this could be coincidence

The Albanians, these tigers of mountain wars ... have as their religion rebellion. Even their worst warrior is one of the strongest and bravest on the battle-field, just as if he was a knight on the legendary horse. But he has no horse, nor proper weapons for battle. Instead of the horse, he has a lance which strikes as lightning, he has spears who's points are full of posion as the sting of hornets, he has also a wooden bow with some arrows. Furthermore, he is stronger than iron ...

Has he tested? You could PM me the surname, would like to see what brotherhood of Kuqi they come under, if they are Drekali/Ndreka or Mrnjavcevic or perhaps old Kuci. The Drekali/Ndreka and perhaps the Mrnjavcevic have Albanian origins from the Berisha e Kuqe and the Drekali/Ndreka still have Albanian families

^^
The biggest sample is for Herzegovina (552), but Herzegovina today is quite empty unfortunately. I think most of the tested Herzegovinian Serbs live outside of Herzegovina. Most populated regions today by Serbs in BiH are Krajina, Vrbas and Posavina/Ozren.

High I1 in Sarajevo-Romanija area is due to Drobnjaci (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drobnjaci). From historical sources are known migrations of Drobnjaci to Sarajevo-Romanija area in 18th and 19th century, now confirmed by genetic. Of 22.81% I1 in Sarajevo-Romanija vast majority (21.05%) is 'Drobnjak' I1-P109>FGC22045.
Sample for central Bosnia is only 26. In central Bosnia Serbs were never numerous.Interesting how R1a seems to be not uncommon
R1a hot spot is Donje Podrinje. Only in Donje Podrinje R1a is stronger than I2-Y3120 of all regions in former Yugoslavia where Serbs live or lived until recently.
