The Tatars in Romania do look Central Asian. Some full Central Asian, others partially (even if unmixed). Some of them are mixed and have lost their traits though.
Some examples:

yeah i saw tatar result from romania they have 40% mongoloid so it’s not atypical for them. volga tatars have 25% mongoloid and other crimean tatars have 5-15%.

I would say those tatars look quite asiatic. Kazan tatar on other hand look very european to me. We have a lot of them here in Kazakhstan and I can't tell them apart from russians.
