Beverley Craven (born 28 July 1963) is a British singer-songwriter and pianist, best known for her 1991 UK Top 5 hit single "Promise Me". Her most recent album, Change of Heart, was released in 2014. She has sold over four million records in her career.

Although she's British, Craven was born in Colombo, Ceylon in July 1963 while her father was working there for Kodak.

Two years later the family returned to Hertfordshire, England, and Craven began taking piano lessons at the age of seven encouraged by her mother who was a classical violinist. Upon leaving school, she attended art college while performing with various bands in London pubs and writing songs.

She was also an accomplished swimmer during her teens and competed in several local and national swimming competitions around the UK.

Like most talented female singers and musicians (including Björk, Tori Amos, and Sharon den Adel, etc,) she was also inspired by Kate Bush.

I think she has an ancient British look to her. (I like that look btw. I see it as a friendly look.) She looks like an ancient native Briton.

She reminds me of Sara Payne from southern England (the courageous and very famous UK mother of Sarah Payne, who did so much campaigning on behalf of her daughter, as her little girl was abducted and went missing - and was later found to have been raped and murdered by a paedophile.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw8DzFZCxTk

I used to be close friends with a gorgeous teenager in Hampshire in Southern England with a similar look when I lived there for a few months as a teenager, who used to write nice letters to me after I left the area. (My first crush! ) He was tall and very slender and shy, and I remember he had large posters of Jim Morrison on his bedroom walls, (I didn't even know who Jim Morrison was back then, as he'd died before we were even born.) He had large self-inflicted razor cuts all over his arms and chest ... (he self-harmed, but he was such a kind and sweet person to people)... and he such had a gorgeous smile and attractive warm brown eyes, pale skin, high cheekbones, and gorgeous naturally dark hair that was in a style I loved... and his surname was Payne too.

He looked ever-so-much like a young Alex James.
