US knew that they can't build military base on western balkans though negotiations so they decied:

"Let's secede Kosovo from Serbia, Kosovars will love us and in exchange they'll give us a Military Base"

That's what they did.

So what is Kosovo? Kosovo is a US Military Base nothing else.

The Irony in all of that is that Serbia offered Kosovo limited self-governance but they declined cause... US said so

Yugoslavia split because of Tito. Tito was dumb and accepted to break centralized state; he went to federalism. And when time has come, that destroyed Yugoslavia.
They tried to do same with Turkey with the garbage Neo-Ottoman propaganda but the state prevented the federal system from happening with an iron fist.
