No, any racial mixing until the past couple of centuries in both societies was due to the men fucking black women on the side, in Brazil's case sometimes resulting in marriage, with the resulting mixed race offspring adopting European culture. But in America, the resulting mixed race offspring would adopt the identity of their maternal side, which would be African instead of European. And such mulatto blacks tended to form their own societies and avoid mixing with the purer blacks for the most part. Like Douglas Wilder, first "black" governor of Virginia.

Yes, but the US became independent in 1776. Had several years to change. If the US states didn't invent their segregation laws, then things might be quite different.

America was founded explicitly as a country for whites, primarily Anglo whites. Mixed race people aren't the constituent population, nor would a small statistical minority ever overrule the rights of the rightful founding stock. Mulatto babies used to be drowned in a bucket of water right after they were born, even before Jim Crow laws.

Blacks lived better lives during the Jim Crow era, they had their own stuff. Soon as that ended, black businesses lost customers to white businesses, and there was a brain drain as smarter blacks moved to white communities. The Feed and Breed programs are also a disaster for the black community.

Right after the abolishing of Jim Crow laws, single motherhood skyrocketed, interracial marriages increased between elite black men and non-white women which left a significant proportion of black women alone and bitter, drug use destroyed communities, black wealth dropped. I'm not saying Jim Crows was great, but it did strengthen the black community and made it more insular and connected. Jim Crows kept the black community together.
