I like many Italians that I've met and traditional Italian culture from Italy.
That said I live in New Jersey so I've met my fair share of Italian-American "Guido" types and I can't say I like many of the qualities they seem to exhibit: flashiness, arrogance, highly emotional, loud, acting like/thinking they are mafioso tough guys but actually are soft, etc. Not all of them have been that way though.
I've heard it said the reason they act that way is that they are mostly Southern Italian and Sicilian derived and that their behavior is reflected in the South back in the homeland, which is why some Northern Italians don't like Southern Italians. Not sure how accurate that is though.

Italy culture is much more than those...
Sorry but mafia movies culture is mostly an American thing not certainly Italian and besides, movies that glorifie mafia like Godfather are just stupid. Mafia is everything besides glorious.
This being said we have some Italian Tv fictions with mafia but are polizieschi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poliziotteschi)

If people do, it's usually because of envy. Although Italy isn't really one homogeneous population genetically, historically and culturally speaking, so one could love Piemonte or (in case of some Northwestern and Central Europeans) South Tyrol/Trentino - like Tuscany - having mixed feelings about Rome - but hate Campania, Naples in specific or just the entire south for (in their eyes) being too noisy, lazy and having a polychronic time system rather than a monochronic one like the 'highly organized' and sophisticated northerners have (Northwestern Europeans and Germans in specific). Italy is basically just a geographic aggregation. Don't forget the Mezzogiorno had different rulers and a seperate culture for more than 1000 years prior to 1861 (some regions more so than other). Also what Edward C. Banfield, a political scientist called ''amoral familism'' and cousin marriages (between 1930/65 higher than 40% in most of Sicily and around 20% in Campania) + the economical gap that still plagues the south, set's the ''Terroni'' apart from the 'developed' polenta eating regions in the north. Did I mention the climate? Don't generalize Italy.
