There are some other reasons for the pro-Israel bent. The alliance that certain Big Business/Corporate interests have made with Israel. The ideology of Christian Zionism, which owed much to Samuel Untermeyer's financial backing of an obscure American Protestant preacher named Scofield, while also drawing on the idea of the "chosen" people.
As for the other side, then the obsession comes from certain Cultural Marxist leftists who hate anything white and, in their warped mind, "Zionism is not Judaism" so rather than the Talmud they transfer their attack instead upon a false narrative of "white" Israelis vs. "brown" Palestinians. Ignoring the power of the Zionist lobbies, which they actually dismiss as "anti-Semitic", they instead claim that somehow Israel is "manipulated" to be "America's Outpost".
I reject both narratives and, although I have long been pro-Palestinian, now that I focus more on our Western/European issues, Semitic disputes don't concern me. I believe in complete non-intervention and not meddling, in concert with securing our borders and our own societies.
However, I should caution against the rising propaganda of certain right-wing Kahanist/Likudist Zionists that they're somehow "our" allies. They have an internal civil war with the more leftist Zionists, and both sides merely want to recruit us to serve their respective agenda. Even these hardcore right-wing Zionists who speak about "Aliyah" still believe in lording claims of "anti-Semitism" against us and in seeing our societies' foreign policies continue to be subverted for Israel's interests.
So NO Zionist can ever be an ally of a self-respecting national-minded European/Westerner, as theirs is the mindset that took undue dominance within our societies in the first place to our detriment.
