Lets talk if the US is/was Christian:

Was the USA really a Christian state? No it wasnt.

Was the US a Christian nation? Perhaps. Even so some Puritans wanted returning the Jews to Israel. That is essentially early Zionism.

The first major Zionist movements were actually Protestant. They predate any organization of Zionist Jewish Congress or Theodre Herzl movement.
