Default Do you support the death penalty?

For me, this is a classic dilemma where universal human rights (or at least my idea of them) conflict with democracy and national sovereignty. On the one hand I oppose the death penalty, because I think giving the State the right to kill people is extremely dangerous and despotic - quite apart from the rather obvious issue that what happens if an executed convict has subsequently been proven to be innocent? On the other hand, I respect the right of democracies such as the US and Japan to retain and use it, if their populations wish as much.

Yep, I support it. Depends on the type of society to be honest and if the crime has been proven without a shadow of doubt. Some cultures are just so outrageously violent that modern Western values can't be applied until such societies are effectively improved to a Western standard.

Also human rights as they are implemented, ie. by the UN, are a joke. They should be abolished and replaced with the British Bill of Rights in the UK, and equivalents in other countries.

I agree on the second paragraph. The UN Human Rights Council is a sick joke where practically every dictatorship possible has sat on it or even chaired it.

If the court ever has to even consider imposing the death penalty then the convict most likely is a subhuman. So he doesn't have any 'human' rights; the answer is yes. These people are trash and they're worth nothing more to society than free slave labour.

Well if they were jailed, they could work without pay and be useful.

Yes. People who commit serious crimes don't deserve human rights.

And if they refuse with all their might then they should have all valuable organs extracted and donated to hospitals where that life is needed
