Turkey does not needd to join EU because is a powerful state itselfg.

As for history you are wrong.
Ottoman Empire was a multi ethnic islamic Sultanate and it's expansion was done with the desire of many officials in the head of Ottoman empire ( many Albanians included) and also to accomplish the dream of Sultans as emperors of 7 continents.


Turkish republic on the other hand established in 1923 came as a war against the Ottoman Empire and was always cooperative with the West.

Turkey doesnt need EU but they must be vary careful with the islamization issue.

If it is the issue of brown turks, that there are 50 million non white immigrants in europe that will never leave.

Turkey is not Europe

Culturually, Historically and Geographically they can have whatever Leader they want, they should not join EU or any European organization whatsoever.

Atatürk was modern and enlightened person. He was against bigotry, it doesn't mean he seek to be clown of French or British.

In fact if the EU continues to exist (hopefully not) then even the three East Slavic nations should join (and thats very unlikely any time soon).
But the Atlantic groups wont allow that. They probably favor Turkey more. EU is probably split on this issue with Turkey.

EU is culturally dead as more Orthodoxes join (as if Greece then Romania-Bulgaria weren't enough) and the Western nation of UK left it. We Turks started to see it as more of economic organisation. İ am supportive personally though not caring so much.
