By close he means disposition toward others, not necessarily sexual, more in regards with how much you identify with the other person.

Not sure what the point of this thread is.. identifying more with race or gender? A man's ingroup is always more inclusive of women than other men. For example, I'll hug most women, if they're willing, but will only hug male relatives.

But out of people, white Americans, particularly rural white Americans from the western states are the people that I find have the most similar values, upbringing, politics, and etiquette as my family.

On the other hand, any male friend that has dignity, been honest, and even shown loyalty, I trust more than a woman. This can include any race, but it is still an exclusive group.

I think most people would choose same race, different gender. Because most people were raised by their own mothers, who are typically of the same race, and will grow up with those of the opposite gender within their own cultural group. So obviously, they would feel closer to them than they would someone of a much different cultural background. But obviously, in the end, it just depends on the connection between the two individuals.
