    And only 9.5% I2a1 and 1.2% R1a.

E-V13 among Sandžakians is partly from Montenegrin tribes from Brda region, and partly from Albanian tribes of northern Albania. Second strongest haplogroup in Sandžakians on average R1b is 100% from Albanians. Their J2b is predominantly from Albanians.

Bosnian/Herzegovinian Muslims are longer Muslims than Sandžakians. Ancestors of most B&H Muslims converted to Islam roughly 1470-1620, and the strongest wave of islamization of their ancestors was during the rule of sultan Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566). Ancestors of Sandžakian Muslims mostly converted to Islam in the second half of 17th and first half of 18th century.
Muslims in Raška (Sandžak) during the 16th century were tiny minority, and in the same century their number in Bosnia and Herzegovina was significant.

Western Sandžakians have more Serbian and less Albanian ancestry than eastern Sandžakians, it's known from history. Genetic confirmed that, genetic picture of Muslims from Prijepolje municipality (44 samples) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prijepolje

Eastern Sandžakians who are much more related with Albanians than with Serbs are quite more numerous than Serbian shifted western Sandžakians.

what is their different from other bosnians? the sandzaks i knew were usually dark in features.

my ex has bosnian roots from sarajevo and she has blonde hair with blue eyes, she really looks a bit atypical for turkey and i have one friend with sandzak roots he's darker than me, not much very different than average turk as feature wise.

edit: as i understand they're a bosniakized albanians.

Well, for many of us, it's a two-step migration, from first Malisori tribes around the Skadar/Shkoder lake region to Montenegro Brda, and then to Serbia through Pester and big cities (NP, SJ, TT)

There were waves of migration since the 18th centuries, but also more recent after WWI (collapse of Ottoman Empire, wars in Montenegro and Albania) and WWII (Chetniks), many Muslims escaped to Serbian Sandzak. They used to be Muslims up to Niksic, and much more in Kolasin, Berane, Andrijevica, Bijelo Polje

Personally, both from paternal and maternal side, most of my family tree come from region between Gusinje and Plav that moved to NP and villages around in the 20th century

Regarding the influence of Islam, you are partially right, the people converted more later because of late influence of Catholic Albanian Malisori, but the region as a whole, was Islamized before Bosnia and stayed longer in the Ottoman Empire, while Bosnia was already under Austria-Hungary Empire who imported more secular-Christian influence

You can see it here : https://youtu.be/Ny9UMqoc2fk?t=234

And what matter the most today, was the latest influence + our old subconsciouss tribal nature of Brdjani-Malisori mentality with high patriarchal values (toughness, cojstvo i junastvo, besa), mixed with Islam, makes us different than Bosnians, not only from a genetical-phenotypical level, but also cultural on average

This is btw shared by many highlander societies around the world, who are always more conservative, tougher, more mafia-type...
