It's a historical novel by a Hungarian author. The story is about an Avar boy, named Agacs who lives in the time of the Hungarian conquest. He gets recruited in the army of Prince Tarkacsu(son of Árpád). The story follows real events and battles of the 10th century Hungarians. My all time favourite book for sure.

Sounds incredible - what's the title?

It has four chapters in total, all of them has different titles.
First chapter is titled "Ördög fattyú" means something like bastard of the Devil.
The author's name is László Urbánszki. Sadly I don't know if there is an english version, because it is a pretty recent series written between 2017-19.
I would totally recommend it, it has action, romance, battles everything.
