I am currently reading Des bêtes et des dieux (Beasts and Gods), concerning the place of animals in the main religions, by Eric Baratay, historian of animals. I really wish it will help me to find a way to justify, in Christianity, my conviction that animals have an immortal and immaterial soul.

American society has become anti-male. Men are sensing the backlash and are consciously and unconsciously going “on strike.” They are dropping out of college, leaving the workforce and avoiding marriage and fatherhood at alarming rates. The trend is so pronounced that a number of books have been written about this “man-child” phenomenon, concluding that men have taken a vacation from responsibility simply because they can. Have you ever systematically looked at the book ? There are worse books on C I have them. Anyway, I planned on reading the Canonical K&R The Programming Language bible eventually.

I've checked the context. My advice, read K&R book and then Advanced C Programming by Example by J. Perry. I really don't know any more recent books since it has been almost 20 years since my C starting voyage, but I honestly doubt new books are any good. At least not on topic of C programming.
