What else does France have in common with the other Mediterranean countries? Most French people are diverse and do not have many predominantly Mediterranean aspects (except in the extreme south). There are many reasons why France should also be considered a European or Central European Atlantic country, the climate of France is different from the rest of the countries of southern Europe, only that the south coast of France has a Mediterranean climate the rest does not. The architecture is also different, they only have some connections with the Iberian and Italian architecture, but not much more. Even French food and customs are different.

If I had to choose a European country that had more in common with France than the rest, it would be the Belgian Wallonia and the French Switzerland would say that they are the countries that have more in common with France than the rest of the countries, including the Mediterranean.

The med component is actually not one of the leading phenotype traits of France. They have Atlanto-meds but even those pale in comparison to atlantids, alpinids and subnordids and pure meds are not typically associated with France although they do have some but nothing like Italy, Spain and Portugal.

[QUOTE=renaissance12;5140216]After Julius Caesar genocide.. i think that the old gauls had NO genetic impact on the current french people..

That's just plain silly. The romans didn't kill of the Gauls, they assimiliated with them. We don't know for sure how many romans settled and stayed in Gaul but the core of the French people is celtic because the Gauls were the biggest group in France by far with some Germanic tribes that followed mainly the Franks. The main components of France are celtic, germanic and latin(romans).
